Job purpose

The Purchasing Supervisor will manage a team of Buyers in Viana ETTS location along with being responsible for the procurement of assigned components and materials.y contracts. To exercise global leadership in the communication, implementation and reinforcement of purchasing strategies.

Viana do Castelo ETTS plant, Portugal

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supervise, train and guide Commodity Buyers (CB) in the area of competence.
  • Support the purchasing team in negotiations
  • Support and maintain global commodity strategies in alignment with global commodity managers.
  • Define and standadize the work flow for Buyers
  • Coordinate the cost reduction activities
  • Support for buyers in multifunctional teams including engineering, program management, supplier development, logistics and manufacturing.
  • Occasionally travel to vendors for site risk assessments and make revisions to new component releases.
  • Responsible for supporting BorgWarner's new technology products, identifying and developing new technologies in suppliers.
  • Validate and develop action plans to minimize the impact of high-risk suppliers.
  • Key Contact for supplier relationship, with internal functions (i.e. Logistics, production, etc.)
  • Track and report BSC metrics.
  • Lead corrective action measures to the Purchasing function of the plant
  • This person may have to lead complex and / or crucial negotiations with suppliers, in line with existing strategies.
  • Continuously improve the health, safety and environmental conditions of the team.
  • Communicate and strengthen safe working procedures.
  • Develop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and a process of involvement in the process among workers in all areas.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Management or related field
  • 5 or + yeares of experience in Supply Chain area
  • Experience in procurement processes strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • Experience in SAP purchasing module strongly preferred. Experience with other software considered.
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal; good presentation skills; strong demonstrated negotiation skills, and have the ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints.
  • Good English language skills (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency level Portuguese (spoken and written).
  • Availability to travel
