BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Plant & Customer Quality Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the Quality of the assigned products
  • Understand and ensure compliance with customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes
  • Keep the metrics updated that have to be reported internally or externally for the assigned products
  • Support quality technicians / auditors / inspectors, and other staff and provide guidance and feedback in problem solving
  • Support the start of new projects and products
  • Improve product quality by making recommendations for change
  • Support customer visits as plant representative when required
  • Ensure that incidents of assigned products are recorded and resolved in a timely manner
  • Manage costs of the quality assurance of the assigned products
  • Ensure that customer portals are updated accordingly and in a timely manner
  • Assure the reliability and consistency of production by checking processes and final output and compare properties to requirements
  • Report / escalate all major quality issues to ensure immediate action
  • Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data
  • Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation
  • Communicate with external quality assurance officers and customers during on-site inspections
  • Organizational and leadership abilities
  • Perform other duties and tasks on assigned special projects and assignments not included in the activity for which was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Two or more years of experience as Plant Quality Engineer and/or Customer Quality Engineer
  • Hands-on experience with statistical analysis
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation
  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
  • Additional certification in Quality Assurance (is a plus)
  • Minitab user (is a plus)
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Results Oriented
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Team spirit
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Portuguese
