BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Staff ASIC Application Engineer - Automotive at our Mexico Propulsion Engineering Center (MPEC) located in San Luis Potosí - México.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the ASIC Application, Layout, and Support Supervisor, the Staff ASIC Application Engineer will be responsible for development of next generation automotive ASICs for Power Electronics and Gas/Diesel electronic control modules in BorgWarner.

Job Duties:

  • Ability to work with customers to understand their high-level requirements and design solutions
  • Responsible for understanding the technical requirements and forecasts realistic customer requirements
  • Support business case development
  • Contribute to the development of the overall ASIC architecture
  • Support of the IC Design, Test, and Product teams during the course of development
  • Electrical and thermal analysis of system proposed to support circuit design
  • Development of datasheets, application notes, Functional Safety documentation
  • Responsible for evaluation of defined ASICs
  • Conduct product/application technical training
  • Provide support for application usage and attend design reviews
  • Support system returns and debug to root cause
  • Propose IC change requests and support cost reduction initiatives
  • Mentor less experienced team members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in electronics industry, automotive and integrated circuits experience preferred
  • Proven track record of documenting technical and safety requirements
  • Expert in electronic system design including conception, block diagrams, schematic capture, PCB layout, build and debugging
  • Experience working with systems that include some of the following: linear and switching voltage regulators, high/low side power switches, digital drivers, amplifiers, ADCs, SPI, CAN, microprocessors, thermal considerations, EMC considerations
  • Experience directing and understanding systems during return debug, root cause determination, failure analysis, and recommending fixes
  • Understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal design fundamentals
  • Provide hands-on, expert-level technical assistance to customer development and software teams
  • Must have strong technical documentation and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must possess excellent organizational skills, good English oral and written communications skills, and a high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a customer oriented, fast-paced, and demanding environment with minimal supervision.
  • Leadership qualities: Integrity, attention to detail, goal oriented, and motivated` to improve.
  • Familiar with simulation tools such as Saber/Micro-Cap/LT Spice/Matlab
  • Familiar with common lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, curve tracers, DVMs, etc.
  • Skilled in use of common computer applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
