Our facilities are located across the globe to provide local support for our diverse customer base. The Ithaca Campus has two production plants, focusing on engine timing systems and drivetrain chain.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Successful candidates will perform all maintenance, repair, renovation of mechanical manual and automatic production machinery throughout the campus.  They will set up and operate machining operations or Tool Room and tool making equipment and have the ability to diagnose pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical controlled mechanisms and machines. Machinists will lead changeover and set up of production  machines along with documentation of machine history, party and inventory of assigned areas.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Working from verbal, written assignments; service (manual and automatic) machinery and  auxiliary equipment, including diagnosis, tear-down, reassemble, layout and set-up of production machining operations.
  • Uses specific skills of the machinist trade, with the application of electrical circuitry and appropriate soft wiring procedures. 
  • Performs electric, gas welding, brazing, cutting, silver soldering of metals. 
  • Displays the highest application of mechanical knowledge of how/why mechanical equipment works. 
  • Performs diagnostic and repair activities on complex mechanical, machinery systems. 
  • Displays knowledge of physical properties of metals to perform machining operations and heat treating techniques. 
  • Transposes graphic information to workable machinery parts. 
  • Knowledge of trigonometry and other mathematical methods. 
  • Performs extensive decision making seldom checked by others. 
  • Performs work in accordance with a wide range of safety procedures. 
  • High physical effort with close mental and visual attention is required.

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

  • 2+ Years Experience in Industrial Machinist/Mechanic Trade
  • Experience repairing industrial equipment
  • New York State Journeyperson Card preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be willing to work off-shift (2nd and/or 3rd)
