BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Manufacturing Technician at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure documentation of best practices and lessons learned implemented during project launches and serial life
  • Supports process standard development, definition, documentation and deployment.
  • Supports production Equipment specifications definition and the associated sourcing process.
  • Support on follow up machine projects with external suppliers, from design to qualification. Bring new Equipment in plant according to specification, time and budget
  • Lead/Support production plant for problem solving in manufacturing
  • Supports Manufacturing Engineers in new business pursuit by providing guidance and estimates for manufacturing process and cost.
  • Supports on developing flexible manufacturing systems specifications to meet internal & customer requirements
  • Supports manufacturing equipment development in accordance to project timing and business case assumptions
  • Assist in training of production operators and maintenance personnel on production equipment
  • Focus on quality of products produced in the production systems
  • Technical Lead for improvement of OEE - equipment overall effectiveness and identify process improvements
  • Maintain manufacturing excellence on all equipment
  • Work in team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.
  • Identify safety equipment and provide safety training on production processes.
  • Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service

Education & Experience

  • Master of Sciences in Mechanical, Eletronics or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum newly graduated with internship in Manufacturing area
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, and AIAG Manufacturing requirements
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
  • knowledge and exposure to some of the following technologies: automatic assembly, screw driving, air leak testing, laser welding, Siemens Step7 PLC control programming, robotics and vision applications will be a plus.
  • Ability to read, and preferably create, comprehensive mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and schematics using specified software (ex. AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical, technical, and statistical skills   
  • Good problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization
  • Results oriented
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Portuguese
  • Availability for international Business travels
