Diagnoses, repairs and disassembles transfer cases and other products to help diagnosis quality issues and reduce scrap.

Standard Duties:

  • Observes products in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble/abnormalities.
  • Dismantles products to identify and remove any defective parts.
  • Process defective part through nonconforming material procedure
  • Inspect good components to verify they are conforming and able to be returned to the assembly line.
  • Repairs or replaces any defective parts.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Evaluate rejects and determine root cause.
  • Enter evaluation data into spreadsheet to create a report including FTQT Log and FPY spreadsheet.
  • Introduces rework material to the line in accordance with the DDRM,  (Defect Diagnosis and Repair Manual)
  • Actively works to minimize rework/reject material inventory
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:

  • Stand for long periods of time including during operation of stand-up lifts.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs repetitively.
  • Stepping up and down off lift; walking long distances over extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.
  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.

Quality of Work: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Education & Experience


Education:  High School diploma or GED

6 months of quality related experience preferred

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Communication - Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings. Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Inventory software; intermediate level MS Excel and MS Word.
