BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join Supplier Quality Engineer at our SLP PDS Plant in Mexico.

In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer works at a professional level to ensure that components and products are consistently manufactured in full compliance with specified requirements. Applies knowledge and a solid understanding of product and process engineering. Improves supplier operations to produce reductions in lead time, inventory, PPM/total cost, and manufacturing system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Definition and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions to reduce supplier rejections.

  • Define characteristics and methods based on specification to perform inspections on the receipt of material.

  • Establishment of improvement programs with suppliers, as well as their follow-up.

  • Conduct on-site assessments and supplier support visits to improve supplier performance and achieve company objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost, and Response. These activities include control plan audits, product audits, resolution activities for problems encountered at the BW plant and at the customers' site, related to supplier manufacturing problems.

  • Participation in the approval of PTRs within the PPAP process with suppliers.

  • Review the supplier's component design to ensure they meet specified tolerances.

  • On-site verification of capacity and implementation of EPC process. Management of the supplier improvement system.

  • Application of quality statistical tools.

  • Evaluate the supplier's machinery and equipment to determine repair and replacement needs.

  • Generation of quality complaints to suppliers and follow-up to closing through 8D.

  • Development of plans for line and capacity specifications as needed.

  • Check that the component specifications are in accordance with the drawings.

  • On the supplier evaluation procedure.

  • Comply with the matrix of responsibilities, training by position and access to Ford portals, Form MRF-RH-01

Qualifications

  • Education: Mechanical, Administrative, Electronic, Industrial Engineering or related career.

  • Time of experience in a similar position: 2 years or more in a similar position. Technical knowledge required: Quality and environmental systems, Manufacturing processes, Statistical methods, Administration of quality systems to suppliers, Quality audits, basic knowledge of electronic components.

  • Other Requirements: APQP, PPAP, VDA 6.3 (Desirable), Microsoft Office
