When BorgWarner’s Emissions Systems facility in Ningbo, China, moved to a new location, employees had to rebuild their quality systems and recertify with their customers. Ford required the plant to earn its highest designation for suppliers—Ford Q1—by the end of 2018. With only seven months to complete the project, employees worked hard to establish robust operating, material management and environmental compliance systems while passing Ford’s rigorous standards for quality and warranty performance. Not only did the plant earn the prestigious Ford Q1 flag, but employees significantly improved their overall Q1, delivery and quality performance scores, and reached top scores in all other categories.
